In their first tour in July 2023, the National Symphony Youth Orchestra (NSYO) brought together more than one hundred young musicians under the guidance of Music Director Jun Märkl with the goal of opening up future possibilities for young musicians to explore the international music scene. In 2024, with students ranging from 13-24 years old from Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and USA, they returned once again to perform in concert halls across Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand. The repertoire this year consisted of Gabriela Lena Frank's Concertino Cusqueño, Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto Op.14, Manuel de Falla's Three-Cornered Hat Suite No.2, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio espagnol, Op.34

Description

In collaboration with Taiwan Philharmonic (also known as the National Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan), our parent foundation Chenter Foundation supported US citizen/resident musicians in National Symphony Youth Orchestra's upcoming 2024 Summer International Tour. In line with Chenter Foundation's mandate, the foundation encourages US citizens and resident musicians to experience global learning and performance opportunities.

Licha Stelaus Productions provided support for US citizen and resident musicians to focus fully on the intensive training courses and rehearsals during the tour, which happened over 20 July to 5 August. Together with Music Director Jun Märkl, violinist Richard Lin, and other promising youths, these musicians showcased what they'd learned in six formal performances across Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand.
